During a meeting with the managers of typing centres, held at the DNRD headquarters last Sunday to explain the new visa regulations and the requirements for implementing the new procedures, Bin Suroor said:

' the entry permits will become more diversified and will include long and short term visit visas, and new types of visas for festivals, tourism, medical treatment, conferences and educational, etc.'

The meeting was attended by Major Khaleefa Balqoubaa, Assistant Manager for External Center Sector, Major Mohammed Al Hammadi Manager, Entry Permits Department and Lieutenant Colonel Yousef Al Marri, Director of Entry Permits and Residence Section.

Brigadier Bin Suroor stressed the importance of attaching a photo of the visa applicant and making sure that all data is accurate to avoid rejection. He also asked all typing centres to cooperate in implementing all amendments, pointing out that new fees would be applicable for the new visa categories according to the schedules and listings shared with the typing offices.

Lieutenant Colonel Yousef Al Marri asked the typing centre owners to reject any visa applications without photos, starting from August 10, saying that such negligence might cause problems with the entry permits. He also asked them to be vigilant regarding the authenticity of the applicant's details, like mother's name and the file and establishment number. Major Al Marri commended the typing offices for their ongoing support and role in achieving the best results at DNRD.

Major Khaleefa Balqoubaa presented an overview of the new types of visas, including the details of the long term visas for 90 days, meant for relatives and friends, and the study visa, available for 60 days to 90 days and extendable accordingly with procedures, and the medical visa issued to licensed medical foundations in the country.

He explained that the short-term visit visas for 30 days are non-extendable and are designed for those who attend exhibitions, conferences and festivals following the relevant approvals. Tourist visas are available for 30-days; they can be extended online if the applicant can present compelling reasons.

He also said that visitors who don't require visas (33 nationalities) must get entry permits from the UAE entry points upon arrival, free of charge. The entry permit allows the visitor to stay in the country for 30 days which can be extended for another 30 days, after paying the required fees.

Major Mohammed Al Hamadi stressed that health insurance is a must for processing the visas. This includes different types of insurances, including health insurance by companies for their employees, health insurance for tourists by tourism agencies, and international health insurances that can be used by the visitor overseas. He said that there are many insurance companies nationwide to help create the relevant insurance packages.

Al Hammadi said that there would be no express service fees any longer, as the fees will be unified to offer the visitors added value services. The visas issued before July 29 will be subject to the old bylaw, while the new visas starting from today July 29 (Tuesday) will be subject to the new law.

Following the extensive meeting, typing centre owners and managers showed their readiness to enforce the new amendments and follow the new rules to achieve success and costumers satisfaction.
