Around 1150 out of 1300 spans have been erected with 10 Launching Gantries working all across the Red Line.

Mr. Adnan Al Hammadi, Director of Construction, Rail Projects said:

"Coming August, we aim to complete the erection of viaduct spans across the Red Line which will be followed by coating and hand rails installation in December. This milestone would have not been possible without the diligence and support of the Construction team on the Rail Project. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the QHSE whose contribution to maintenance of Safety standards onsite is impeccable."

"The Green Line will call for the erection of around 500 spans. The project will have 1800 spans in total to be constructed for both the lines with a total of 12315 segments consuming over 267000 cubic meters of concrete, nine tower cranes, and 10 launching gantries. Launching gantries are used for the majority of the viaduct construction providing a fast-track installation process enabling the erection of a complete viaduct span in two days", he added.

Currently 10 launching girders are working at a time using the span-by-span erection method while the balanced cantilever method is used for about 5% of the project for special bridges spanning over 72m and above urban obstacles like interchanges, existing & future road projects.
