Sharjah Islamic Bank launches first Islamic prepaid card

Sharjah Islamic Bank announced the launch of their Prepaid "Jeans Card", the first Islamic Visa prepaid card, a personalized Visa card catering to all age groups from as young as 14 years of age.

The card was launched to offer users a convenient and secured mode of payment for all daily spends including ATMs and Internet transactions. The Jeans Card functions like a credit card and can be used at millions of locations and ATMs, but comes with a preloaded balance according to the customer's choice. The application process is simple with a minimum processing time to acquire the card.

"We are confident that the Jeans Card will add a lot of value to customers of all ages and will help the young customers to learn financial responsibility in a controlled and secured way,"

said Mr. Mohammed Abdulla, CEO of SIB.

"The launch of the Jeans Card is part of SIB's strategy to launch innovative products and services that suit all ages and at the same time are compliant with Sharia'a principles," Mr. Abdulla added.

"The unique design and security features make the Jeans Card stand out from the crowd since customers will get a short message (SMS) after every use, making it the most secured card in the market today," said Mr. Motaz Saeed, Head of Marketing and Products.

"The Jeans Card can also be an ideal gift, anyone can apply for a card for their loved ones and uses it as a pleasant surprise," Mr. Saeed added.
