Emirates A380 in pictures
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, July 30 - 2008 at 14:17
Emirates Airlines has taken possession of the group's very first Airbus A380. The superjumbo flew out from the factory in Hamburg, Germany and touched down in its new hub, Dubai, last night. AME Info's Phil Blizzard was aboard the delivery flight, interviewing Airbus and Emirates executives and sampling the products on offer.
One of three configurations bought by Emirates, the first flight has seats for 489 passengers.
All three classes feature increased comfort features - First Class cabins even include their own shower.
Emirates will also be undertaking measures to make the plane even more fuel efficient.
These include reducing the onboard weight by getting rid footrests and inflight magazines and newspapers.
The first commercial flight will be on the Dubai to New York route, leaving on 1 August.
