LF funded BBK 'graduates' prepare for the working life

The first batch of 20 new recruits for BBK's Retail Banking Associate Programme graduated from a carefully structured 7-week training programme funded by the Labour Fund.

The programme is a joint initiative between BBK and the Labour Fund which assisted in designing the programme by selecting and appointing the training providers Capital Knowledge and contributing towards the training fee as well as the stipend that the trainees will get.

The BD 160,000 project will help 100 Bahrainis with a 2-year technical or academic diploma to get fast-track retail banking training (in batches of 20). This training will make them eligible to find employment in BBK's rapidly-growing Retail Banking operations.

During their training, the associates were given training in banking, English for Business and all the major aspects of Retail Banking, Banking Law, Basic Accounting, Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills.

As part of the programme, the trainees visited the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) where they were introduced to the dealing room operations, how to combat money counterfeiting and toured the coin museum at the CBB.

In another field trip, the group went to different BBK Financial Malls to observe the day-to-day operations of tellers, customer service representatives and sales agents. This prepared the trainees for a core banking simulation offered at Capital Knowledge.

For this, a class room was converted into a branch, providing the trainees with the opportunity to try out their respective functions as BBK Retail Bankers.

A crucial impact on the trainees was made by different BBK Executives from HR, Retail Banking and Marketing who arranged for class room discussions with the group.

At the graduation ceremony, BBK CEO Abdul Kareem Bucheery emphasized that a good banker must not only have good knowledge in banking but also, and more importantly so, have the right attitude in order to serve customers well.
