Gold trading hits record

Trading volumes on the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange hit a record high in July, with 186,842 contracts signed, worth over $12bn. It represents a 227% increase on July 2007. Gold volumes increased 167% in the same period last year. For the year-to-date, volumes are up 56% on the January to July period of last year, with 821,388 contracts traded, worth $43.3bn.
