UAE signs air services MoU with Brazil

The United Arab Emirates represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Republic of Brazil on 31 July 2008 in Rio de Janeiro.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in the UAE and H.E Ronaldo Seroa da Motta, Director of the National Civil Aviation Agency in Brazil.
The two delegations agreed to designate, in addition to Emirates Airline; Etihad Airways, Air Arabia and RAK Airways as National Carriers from UAE Side.
According to the MoU both parties agreed a phased increase of (28) flights weekly passenger or combination flights and (21) weekly all cargo flights to be operated with any type of aircraft. It was also agreed additional fifth freedom traffic rights for passenger and cargo services.
The UAE and Brazil further agreed to start working for the liberalization of their bilateral air transport framework in near future, with an aim to create additional opportunities for their designating airlines.
