British University in Dubai appoints new registrar

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) continues to work to stimulate the regional knowledge- based economy, appointing Martin Prince as its new Registrar, and launching a series of industry-focused courses.

BUiD has welcomed a growing community of students in recent years, and, as a result, the range of original research under development has increased exponentially.

In his role as Registrar, Prince will play a key role in ensuring that faculty and students' activities are fully supported by the University's Administration.

"Mr. Prince is joining BUiD at an important point in our history, as we continue to increase the opportunities for original research and industry-related study. With significant international experience, he adds an important element to our growing faculty team,"

said Dr. Abdullah Abdulla Alshamsi, Vice-Chancellor, The British University in Dubai.

Prince's achievements reflect the progress of the University of the Arts London and in addition supporting the development of The Fashion Retail Academy in the UK, one of the first of the flagship "Skills Academies," supported by public-private partnership. He has worked at the University of Arts London for over a decade where he introduced a series of governance initiatives, to ensure administrative support for the creative educational work of its colleges including (London College of Communication, Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design and Chelsea College of Art)

BUiD continues to actively recruit high level academic talent from around the world, as part of its mission to drive original research that makes a positive contribution to local industries and communities.

Executives at the University anticipate a further increase in applications following additions to the industry-focused Masters programme, including the Middle East's first MSc in Systems Engineering and progres towards a January offer of MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution.

In addition, the University now hosts the first LEED Accredited Professional Examination Courses as well as providing special English language and pre-masters courses over the summer.

The Emirates Group, DUCAB, Atkins, Dubai Duty Free, Hyder Consulting, the Emirates Foundation, the Mohammed bin Rashid AlMaktoum Foundation, and DUGAS are supporters of the university through financial contributions including the provision of scholarships.
