Dubai cinemas go digital

The first digital cinemas in the Middle East have opened in Dubai, The National has reported. Two new screens at a cinema in Dubai Festival City will show digital versions of the latest Mummy movie. Instead of using 35mm projectors, digital cinemas stream films onto the big screen from a hard drive, meaning that picture clarity and sound quality are greatly enhanced. The technology has been in use in Europe and the US for over a year.
