- PRESS RELEASE
The Environment 2009 Exhibition and Conference to be held 19 - 21 January 2009 in Abu Dhabi has received exhibitor confirmations from more than 25 countries reflecting the increasing global interest in the many environment-related projects being undertaken by the public and private sectors in the region.
The show is supported by the UAE Ministry of Environment & Water (MoEW) and will take place in association with the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
"Worldwide exhibitor interest in our show mirrors a drive towards enhancing ecological awareness, environmental preservation and longer-term sustainability in the region and opens up a number of business opportunities for companies to offer their products, services and technologies. Environment 2009 provides the most appropriate business platform for the environmental sector in this region," said Frederic Theux, President, Reed Exhibitions Middle East, organizers of the fifth edition of the Environment Exhibition & Conference.
Exhibitors from more than 25 countries including Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, the USA and the UAE will take part in Environment 2009.
"The scope of the show has been considerably broadened to include new and emerging issues that top the environmental agenda of local and regional governments, and solutions offered by specialist companies from around the world," added Theux.
Environment 2009 will cover the following sectors: Water, Waste, Air Pollution Treatment, Recycling, Protection and Preservation of Nature & Cultural Resources, Sustainable Development and services such as Risk Prevention and Management, Audit, Consultancy, Training and Education.
In addition, the show will also provide a major platform to showcase planned urban development projects that integrate sustainability principles as well as other key environmental projects in the Middle East.
Visitors to Environment 2009 will include decision-makers from the federal and local governments from around the region, municipalities, public sector organizations, manufacturing industries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), educational and research institutions.
The Environment 2009 Conference, to be held in parallel with the exhibition, will feature experts from the UAE, regional and international speakers who will focus on solutions for water, waste and air pollution management. The conference programme at the 2009 edition has been designed to provide a convergence point for knowledge-exchange, networking and business generation during which international speakers will tackle the main environmental issues confronting the Middle East.
Pointing out that Reed Exhibitions was also the organizer of Pollutec, the world's largest environment trade exhibition, Theux said: "This association will contribute to enhancing the quality of the Environment show whereby best practices used in the organization of Pollutec can be replicated at the Environment event as well."
The previous edition of Environment, held in January 2007, had over 330 exhibitors from 28 countries taking part, occupying a gross exhibit area of over 15,000 square meters. It consisted of 9 national pavilions and received 5,000 visitors including a host of dignitaries, decision-makers and top officials from around the region.
