Workshop to focus on social impacts of supply chains

Dubai Chamber's Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) is holding a workshop on August 31 and September 1 for directors and managers implementing Corporate Social Responsibility in their firms.
The Environmental and Social Impacts of Supply Chains, the one-and-a-half-day workshop to be held on August 31 and September 1 will focus on building the business case for social and environmental best practices in supply chains and will cover what supply chain management means from a CSR perspective, what are the risks and opportunities, how companies are integrating sustainability issues into their supply chain management while reacting and adapting to pressures in the light of some examples of best practice in the sector.
The first day of the seminar on August 31 will focus on building the business case for social and environmental practices in supply chain, sustainable sourcing and supply chain monitoring, challenges and approaches while the following half-day workshop will focus on Supply Chain Logistics.
Dr Belaid Rettab, Senior Executive Director, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry said, "Organisations attending the workshop stand to benefit as they get a chance to understand how supply chain issues apply to their companies while obtaining guidelines and other information to build the business case for sustainable supply chain practices, access to resource material and best practice local and international examples and also the opportunity to network with experts and other like-minded people from the industry."
Corporate Social Responsibility is slowly emerging as a key concept amongst businesses in UAE. Challenges faced by the corporate sector in CSR presents an opportunity for change and the time is opportune for developing a responsible business agenda that is tailored to the ground realities and culture of this country.
