Utilising unique Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) algorithms and binary image processing, the device is one of the most accurate on the market in terms of MICR.

Its compact design, accuracy and ease of maintenance and operation makes the TM-S1000 ideal for use in small retail offices, SOHO businesses for remote deposit capture (RDC) and by bank tellers for back office capture (BOC).

The TM-S1000 utilises unique MICR algorithms, based on Epson and RDM technology, which were developed in collaboration with the retail and banking industries.

Combined with the inclusion of an Epson MICR head, which reduces noise from the peripheral device and can recognise waveform stability when reading magnetic ink, it ensures the TM-S1000 has an error rate of less than 0.1 percent in MICR.

Operating at 2.74 million MCBF (mean cycles between failures), the TM-S1000 is one of the most reliable cheque and coupon scanners targeted at the retail office and bank teller portion of the market.

The scanner also features advanced self-diagnostics to keep the operator informed of its status and to report errors for fast resolution.

The TM-S1000 includes a number of additional innovative features to aid users in high-volume cheque and coupon processing and to help prevent user errors.

These features included as standard are; franking function for validating processed documents, a two-pocket document holder for the automatic separation of different types of documents such as cheques and coupons, and 100 document drop-in sheet feeder for high volume batch processing.

These features save the user time by automating document processing and sorting.

Khalil El Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said:

"The TM-S1000 has been designed to address the operating and maintenance problems typically associated with cheque and coupon scanners. Sophisticated sensors detect when cheques have been scanned incorrectly or double-fed through the scanner, and let the user know when the pockets are overfilled, avoiding the hassle of paper jams and missing cheque data. When it comes to maintenance, no special training is required - users can simply open the device to clean the scanner lens, replace franking stamps or remove paper jams."
