RTA purchases through Government Purchasing Program exceed Dhs61.4m in H1 of this year

The purchases of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) through Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business leaders soared in excess of Dhs61.4m in the first half of this year, according to statistical data revealed by Government Purchasing Program.

Commenting on the news Abdullah Al-Madani, CEO of RTA Corporate Support Services Sector, said RTA is always seeking to support members of SME for Young Business Leaders and there was a substantial increase in transactions made with the members of the Est. compare to the previous years. A considerable portion of RTA purchasing contracts is allocated to members of the establishment registered in Govt. Purchasing Program.

Al-Madani hailed the quality of service delivered by these members and further added:
"RTA stands ready to support all projects of young business leaders through the Est. and expose them to the existing potentials in various fields. Transactions with Govt. Purchasing Program will continue through Contracts & Procurement in the public interest."


Ibtihal Ahmed Al-Naji, Director of Govt. Purchasing Program, said that tremendous success is made by the Program which is a genuine opportunity to support & develop the existing national young business leaders' projects. This could be achieved through Govt. support to the Program, and exemption from the bank guarantee required by the Ministry of Labour.

Al-Naji said:
"This Program aims to engage in agreements with the Govt. sector in the emirate of Dubai with a view to obtain excellent offers and continuous support to the members of SME for Young Business Leaders. It also seeks to open up communication channels between the Govt. sector and registered members of the Program through allocating at least 5% of annual govt. purchases to the Program; a step which will enhance the spirit of competitiveness between affiliated establishments and their counterparts in the private sector."


"I would like to thank RTA for the ongoing & effective interaction with SME. for Young Business Leaders, and ceaseless support to the registered members of the Program. The initiatives and interaction of the RTA with all programs provides ample support to members of the Est. and help achieve the general objectives of the Program," she added.

Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al-Murri, Director of Contracts & Procurement Dep't, said that a number of Purchasing Orders and tenders in various fields have been awarded to members of SME Estab. For Young Business Leaders in amounts not exceeding Dhs200,000 per contract or transaction. RTA will continue to deal with SME Estab. for Young Business Leaders through direct contracting within certain limits in various transactions in accordance with regulations and procedures applicable at the RTA.

"Govt. Purchases Program is also seeking to establish strategic partnerships with the private sector to support the objectives of the Program. These partnerships have value-added benefits to members of the Program in terms of facilities and professional expertise required to develop these projects," said Al-Naji.

"Establishments registered under Govt. Purchases Program are classified into two categories (A) and (B). Businesses which have activities compatible with the needs of Govt. departments are entered in Category (A), while Businesses which have activities incompatible with the needs of Govt. departments are entered in Category (B).

"The Program offers many benefits to participants. Members classified in category (A) are entitled to obtain all benefits of Category (B) as well as obtain membership of Tejari, which enables members participate in all tenders offered and establish their own markets electronically, and offer their products & services. It also provides to members access to tender data through e-mails or SMS and coordinate the requirements of govt. and semi-govt. departments with the products & services of members.

"Benefits of Category (B) include offering members the possibility of obtaining a commercial license free from local issuing fees, taking part in expos and conferences held by the Program, and obtaining a 50% discount on adds within Arab Media Group as well as a 50% discount on rents in the Global Village. It also covers exemption from the bank guarantee in the Ministry of Labour when all requirements are completed, in addition to the possibility of using membership logo of SME Estab. for Young Business Leaders," said Al-Naji.
