Press witnesses the rise of the Abdali new downtown

With the construction of the new Abdali New Downtown well under way, the management of Abdali Investment and Development PSC organized on August 13, 2008 a media tour whereby all members of the local press and TV were taken into an actual tour of the site.
The Abdali downtown has today more than 55% of the dedicated parcels under construction in the 251,000 m2 of the first phase of the project whereby 60% is dedicated to buildings and 40% is dedicated to public services, road networks and public gardens. Abdali PSC succeeded in attracting more than 28 local and regional investors to the project of which Damac, Dubai Contracting Company-Turnkey Management, Abdali Boulevard Company, Saraya, Madaen Al Noor, Al Hamad, Rotana, Tameer International and other prominent names in the industry.
The press also visited the Boulevard construction site where contractors just finished the largest continuous concrete pour ever to be witnessed in Amman allowing the boulevard site to reach ground level. The Boulevard which is now set to rise above ground is located in the heart of the Abdali new downtown, and will comprise of a total built up area of 224,000 m2 divided into 118,000 m2 (above ground), and 106,000 m2 of private and public parking and service basement levels (4 levels).
The Boulevard is a key element in the new Abdali downtown with the objective to become a major regional and international shopping and visiting destination, and will consist of a 370 meter long and 21 meter wide pedestrian strip flanked by 12 buildings, of 9 to 11 floors (above ground) each, and will host over 130 retail outlets, 400 luxurious five-star serviced apartments, 30,000 m2 of state-of-the-art office space; and for the first time in Jordan the rooftop experience will be introduced, hosting restaurants, fitness clubs, terraces, and pools overlooking the scenery of the city.
Mr. Jamal Itani, CEO of Abdali PSC, stated that the project is on schedule and what is being witnessed today is still the beginning as by the start of next year construction peak will be reached and the site will be bustling with more than 10,000 workers. He added that with the support and confidence of the investors, the government and other key figures in the kingdom, Amman will have a new downtown by 2010. He also said "The Abdali new downtown project comes in line with the company's goal of contributing to position Amman as one of the worlds' most advanced business, retail, and luxury destinations and to present investors and visitors alike with an unmatched experience of urban life".
The $3bn Abdali urban regeneration project accounts as the largest project in Amman, the capital of Jordan, in terms of its magnitude and impact on the various sectors and activities. Through its collaboration with renowned multinational developers, it has created a core hub and city-center which offers the highest level of technology and a foundation for future business and investment opportunities.
The success of the project has always depended on its relation to the greater community that is why the company has made it a priority to address the needs of Amman and took into consideration the social and environmental aspects of its development. Building on this philosophy, Abdali launched in 2007 its first full-fledged program, RU'YATUK, the social responsibility arm which seeks to empower Jordanian youth from all ages and backgrounds. The program will coordinate all the activities sponsored by Abdali and finally unite them under one roof, with the theme "Let your vision come to life".
