RTA launches campaign to serve cold water and soft drinks to public bus passengers

Public Transport Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) recently teamed up with a number of leading companies in the UAE to launch a campaign whereby cold mineral water & refreshments are distributed to passengers of public buses during a period from 18 July up to 29 August 2008.

This is inorder to create a cozy atmosphere in using public buses, and assist passengers to cope with the blazing summer,

Commenting on the campaign, Abdallah Yousuf Al Ali, Director of Bus Department at RTA Public Transport Agency, said:
"First of all I would like to thank a number of companies which contributed effectively to the success of this campaign. The list includes Aquafina Mineral Waters Co. which provided 440,400 bottles of water together with 12 fridges during the period from 9 to 29 August, and Jima Co which provided 91,000 bottles of water plus 9 fridges during the period from 27 July to 7 August. Other participants include Union Refreshments Factory which provided 3,600 bottles of water during the period 20 - 25 July 2008, and Gulf & Safa Dairies Company which provided 512 bottles of refreshments for one day on 18 July 2008."


Al Ali said, "Public Transport Agency is always keen to provide every means of comfort to the public, including users of public buses, through cooperation with a number of private, government and semi-government entities in the UAE in launching a number of campaigns aiming to make public bus transit an enjoyable experience. This campaign targets several bus stations including Gold Souk, Al-Ghubaiba, Al-Satwa, Al-Sabkha, Al-Qusais, Hor Al-Anz, Al-Rashidiya and Jebel Ali stations."

"This step is a true manifestation of the spirit of cooperation prevailing between these companies and the RTA towards realizing its vision of providing safe and smooth transport for all. Such cooperation is demonstrated in provision of every means of convenience to public bus commuters and urging various sectors of the community to use mass transit modes. This will undoubtedly contribute to easing traffic jams and minimize pollution by vehicles on Dubai roads," said Al Ali in a final remark.
