The award is a yearly national competition for young entrepreneurs organized by Intilaaqah, one of Shell's Social Investment initiatives.

Key representatives from The Fund for Development of Youth Projects (Sharakah), United Press & Publishing, Oman Mobile and Al Shabibah newspaper attended the signing ceremony.

Dr. Andy Wood, Shell Country Chair, who signed the agreement on behalf of Intilaaqah said:

'We are delighted to see more and more organizations value the important role entrepreneurs play to boost the local economy. This is a community initiative and its important to have a shared common objective with other leading organizations towards encouraging entrepreneurship.'



Ms. Malak Al Shaibani, General Manager said:

'Sharakah and Intilaaqah work closely together towards achieving shared objectives.'



More than OR20,000 awaits entrepreneurs who have been running their business successfully for more than a year. The winners also get great promotional opportunity for their business locally and regionally.

'The entrepreneurial culture is growing rapidly in Oman. Today we see more and more young Omanis considering the option of running their own enterprises. Intilaaqah has been promoting and supporting entrepreneurs for more than 12 years and we are delighted to be part of this important initiative. Our magazines, Oman Economic Review and Aalam Aliktisaad Wala'mal, showcases the success of Omani entrepreneurs to inspire more and more young Omanis to set up their own enterprises and make a significant contribution to the national economy,'


said Sandeep Sehgal, CEO, United Press & Publishing.

'Oman Mobile is always very keen to support local community development initiatives. Intilaaqah Award promotes entrepreneurship amongst youth and we are happy to support them in that area,' said Mr. Lars Gustafsson, Marketing Division Head.

Mr. Ahmed Al Shizawi, Public Relation & Advertising Manager, 'Al Shabibah believes that Intilaaqah Award has a strong role in entrepreneurship development and we can support by giving this award the media coverage it deserves.'

Intilaaqah also received support from Oman Air, Oman International Bank, Oman National Bank, Bank Muscat, Sultan Qaboos University, Sanad Program and Knowledge Oasis Muscat.
