An independent Superbrands Council in each country scores candidates against internationally accepted standards, and the top brands are awarded Superbrand status.
This is the first time that Jeep has been accorded this accolade and is proof of the Jeep's long relationship with the Middle East as the most known of off-road vehicles since the last 50 years.
'We're thrilled that Jeep has been voted as a Superbrand for 2009. Jeep has been attracting new customers to the brand who are looking for the qualities that they've been accustomed to in a well built, yet stylish package and this award will further enhance its iconic status. Dream and reality have met to produce a quality product which is appealing to a new audience,'
explained Trent Barcroft, Vice President, Chrysler International - Regional Centre Middle East
New models, new designs, and a fresh approach to service and customer care have combined to keep the Jeep values intact - internationally and in the Gulf - prompting the latest Superbrand accolade.
Jeep's recognition comes in the wake of new model introductions in the region in the last couple of years.
The Jeep Cherokee is all-new for 2008, while the Grand Cherokee has had a range of enhancements.
The Wrangler has always been an icon and the two-door version is joined by the four-door Unlimited to extend the Wrangler family to appeal to a wider audience.
With unsurpassed off-road prowess, the Unlimited is also at home doing the school run.
Helping Jeep with its commitment to the Gulf market and UAE in particular, are Trading Enterprises, distributor in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and Western Motors, distributor for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Both the UAE distributors have consistently achieved outstanding sales while offering exemplary service throughout their sales outlets and are a major contributor in helping Jeep expand its presence and popularity in the UAE.
Their hard work has contributed in no small measure in Jeep being the recipient of this latest award.
It was also noted that Jeep has enhanced its commitment towards communicating with its customers and public in the Gulf.
This can be seen through the various events the company has undertaken throughout the GCC like the 'Jeep Roadshow' which took place earlier this year bringing the brand closer to the public in all six GCC countries.
The classic 'Jeep Jamboree' is another event which brings together the Jeep community from all walks of life together to explore the capabilities of their tough vehicles.
'A Superbrand offers consumers significant emotional and/or physical advantages over its competitors which (consciously or subconsciously) consumers want, recognise, and are willing to pay a premium for,' said a Superbrands Council spokesman. 'Jeep has clearly demonstrated these attributes in full measure regionally and internationally and that's why it has now been designated as a Superbrand for 2009.'
Barcroft added that the recognition was a tribute to the efforts made by the company and its Middle East distributors in the past few years to build the brand in the Gulf with the expansion of its line-up across the region.
'We are happy to get this recognition in the UAE which is one of the biggest and most competitive automotive market in the Gulf region. Our customers already see the difference for themselves and now this has been endorsed by an independent authority,' he commented.
'It is further proof of Jeep's dedication to delivering a total ownership experience in vehicles and after-sales care that belong in a class of their own.'
