- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, August 19 - 2008 at 13:06
- PRESS RELEASE
Encouraged by its ever-growing popularity and its winning of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme's Distinguished Administrative Initiative award 2007 round, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MRM) business award will have two new segments added to its long list of award categories.
"Committed to expand the scope of the Award in its fourth round, Dubai Chamber added two new categories of Corporate Social Responsibility for the firms judged to be outstanding in implementing CSR initiatives in four key areas of Workplace, Marketplace, Community and Environment as this new award will celebrate and share best practice examples of responsible Dubai businesses while the MRM Supply Chain and Logistics Award will honour the best companies in the field for executing efficient and effective forward and reverse flow of storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet the customers' requirement," said Buamim.
"The inclusion of new categories goes in line with Dubai Chamber's vision and
policy that complement the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and add value to the already existing categories of the Manufacturing; Finance; Re-Export and the Real Estate Development awards and brings to seven the categories of MRM business awards which are gaining popularity with the local business houses as they know the awards are based on the Business High Performance Model," added Buamim.
The assessment criteria of the Award include Management and Performance Criteria, which takes 70% of the total evaluation weight.
The management criteria include five elements which are the leadership perspectives, the strategic initiatives, quality imperatives, corporate culture and corporate social responsibility.
Moreover, the performance criteria include the output which is the actual quantity of products and services produced by the firm, the outcome which reflects the achievements implemented by the establishment, and the impact of the firm through its contribution towards the nation and society.
The third round of the awards held late last year and awards presented by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Group, in March this year saw 17 winners from a cross-section of organisations and business establishments being honoured for their outstanding performance and unflinching contribution to the development of the UAE national economy, the overall business atmosphere and the society at large.
Applications for this year's fourth round will be invited after Ramadan when a formal announcement will be made and details unveiled for the benefit of all stakeholders.
