  • PRESS RELEASE

The significant growth of the Middle East labeling sector is being recognised with the addition of Label Summit Middle East to the Gulf Pack and Gulf Print exhibitions being held at the Airport Expo Centre Dubai 6-9 April 2009.

The Label Summit Middle East pavilion at Gulf Pack 2009 will showcase the latest labeling technology including RFID (radio-frequency identification) and track and trace technologies.

In addition to the exhibition pavilion, the Thought Leadership Conference, another major new addition to the Gulf Pack and Gulf Print format, will feature a section dedicated to the discussion of issues specific to the labeling industry.

Fairs and Exhibitions, the organiser of Gulf Pack and Gulf Print, has teamed with its parent company The Tarsus Group, the organisers behind the highly successful Labelexpo international event. The Tarsus Group team will apply their skills to ensure the success of Label Summit Middle East.

"The superb strategic logistical location of this region combined with the strong and growing economy is resulting in the strong growth and amazing future potential of the Middle East's labeling market,"

said Sue Rothwell, Group Event Director, Fairs and Exhibitions.

"With only 3% of Dubai's GDP coming from oil, we are seeing diversification and investment policies having a very positive impact across high growth manufacturing sectors including aviation, logistics, pharmaceutical, retail and fast moving consumer goods - all of which of course are intrinsically linked with the local labeling market."

The worldwide labeling business is growing at 6-7% annually with emerging markets such as the Middle East expanding rapidly as mature markets such as the European, Japanese and American markets slow down.

A recent report released by Pira International estimated the Middle East print market to be valued at $5.3bn in 2007 with predictions that it will grow 45% to $7.6bn by 2012.

The report also found that packaging and labels are the fastest growing subsections of the print market in the Middle East. Dubai Logistics City, due for completion at the end of 2008 will further contribute to placing Dubai at the heart of the logistics network both in the Middle East and globally.
