Dubai may ban smoking while driving
United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, August 20 - 2008 at 09:06
Dubai may become the first city in the Middle East to ban smoking while driving, reported Khaleej Times. A road safety strategy for the emirate, which is being prepared by a Sweden-based consultancy company, is likely to be implemented next year. The strategy would focus on several traffic safety issues, including smoking while driving, said Hussain Mohammed Al Banna, director of Traffic Department at the Roads and Transport Authority. However, he declined to comment on the kind of penalty, if any, to be imposed on violators.
