Children wearing Emirati flag colours were received warmly by DPG's top CEOs, as the children moved in procession from department to department, chanting religious verses and singing popular songs while asking for sweets and presents.
Fareda Abdullah, Executive Director - Human Capital at Dubai Properties Group, said:
"In the UAE, 'Hag El Leilah' is the traditional name for this night, where gifts, usually in the form of sweets, are handed out, especially to children and the needy. It is one of the customs that has been passed down from previous generations. Children use this night to go out knocking on the doors of their neighbors, asking for the night's offerings with the phrase 'A'atoona Hag El Laylah', which means, give us for tonight's celebration."
As the CSR arm of DPG, Mubadra was established last year to contribute towards the overall benefit of the society through participating in community related activities, particularly those that serve to highlight the UAE's cultural values.
