Triumphant Nissan Tiida gets an '09 makeover

With over a million cars sold around the world since Tiida's launch introduction in September 2004, the car is exceeding customer expectations for compact vehicles offering roomy interiors, premium quality and competitive fuel economy and performance.

'This time, Tiida's front face has become much more handsome and strong. Interior enhancement is also a notable point,'

said Hirotaka Mima, Passenger Vehicle Brand Manager at Nissan Middle East.

'Tiida has been the fastest-selling product in the history of Nissan Middle East and it recently topped Japanese compact car sales in GCC markets like the UAE in June and Qatar in May this year. With the introduction of this much enhanced new Tiida, we are very confident that our Tiida sales will be boosted further,' he concluded.

The 2009 Nissan Tiida is being offered to the Middle East buyers in two distinctive body styles - a 5-door hatchback and 4-door sedan - each is available in 1.6L and 1.8L models.

The exterior of the Tiida hatchback and sedan now features a more dynamic look and fine attention to detail, as seen in the newly designed grill, the new front bumper shape and halogen headlights, which adds a more streamlined look from the front to the rear.

Tiida hatchback's new taillight design and new rear bumper shape refreshed its iconic rear shape, and the introduction of 16 inch alloy wheel with its new design gives sportier look to both Tiida hatchback and sedan.

Also new for the 2009 model year is the introduction of Tiida Sport (Sport package; optional on both Tiida hatchback and sedan) adding a sportier overall style with rear spoiler, the side sill spoiler, and sporty bumpers.

The exterior of the Tiida sport combines shapes and forms that are both geometrical and mechanical in feel, creating a sense of acceleration and kinetic energy. Tiida sport is designed for customers who want to enjoy a sporty look and feeling that is backed up by its victory at the China Circuit Championship 2008 where Tiida has proven its performance having collaboration of the Dong Feng Nissan Ghia team and its technical supporter NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd).

In Tiida, Nissan's design and engineering teams found a way to fit a large interior of a mid size car. The ample leg space and high ceiling enable driver and passengers to stretch out giving them high visibility that contributes to making Tiida's interior so open-plan. In addition, not only that the both Tiida hatchback and sedan have large cargo areas, ideal for owners with highly active lives, but they also integrate convenient storage solutions, including a large glove box, large front door pockets and a front and rear console pocket.

Along with a spacious cabin, the new Tiida offers outstanding interior refinement which delivers more comfort and convenience. Additional components include steering wheel mounted cruise control, audio control and a stylish refined center cluster equipped with 6-CD changer, MP3 capability, IPod-ready AUX input and a 6-speaker audio system which delivers high sound quality. Comfort is assured by fully automated air conditioning. An LCD screen is also conveniently located by the steering wheel; a switch allows display of either instantaneous or average fuel economy.

Both Tiida hatchback and sedan offer two in-line four cylinder engines to choose from. Compact and lightweight, the 1.8 litre version features numerous technological advances to enhance intake/exhaust efficiency, thermal efficiency and torque while reducing noise, friction, and fuel consumption. The high torque of the 1.6 litre ensures satisfying performance and stress free driving in the city and on highways. It is also extremely efficient and environmentally friendly.

Tiida has won numerous awards this year (2008) including the 'Car of the Year' award in Thailand and Mexico, 'Automotive Best Buy' in the USA and top ranked as an environmentally friendly car by the Ministry of Environment in Taiwan.

Other awards for Tiida include the China 'Car of the Year 2006' award by SINA Corporation, a leading Asian online media company and information service provider based in China and 'Inter-American Car of the Year 2007' by FIPA, Inter-American Federation of Auto Journalists, which consists of journalists from 19 countries.

Nissan Tiida has also received several safety recognitions including the highest six star rating for its crash-impact safety by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism of Japan in 2004, highest ratings for front, side and rear impact by the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2008 and the Safest Car Award by Premiado Auto Mas Seguro Magazine in Argentina in 2007.
