Biggest ever technology fashion show attracts world's leading designers

The latest 'must-have technology' that will define the trends and fashions for the coming year will be launched in front of a global audience at Gitex Technology Week.

Building on the success of last year's event, the HP sponsored 'Gadget Glam' will unveil state-of-the-art devices that are due to be released in the next twelve months, at the showcase of this year's Consumer Electronics event.

Audiences will get a preview of brand new consumer technology products, during a glamorous fashion show - in conjunction with T3 - involving top-of-the-range innovations, at the Dubai International Convention Exhibition Centre (DICEC), 19-23 October 2008.

"The best technology is not just built around an impressive specification any more. How the product is designed and looks is critical to getting a younger generation enthused with the latest advancements. Our tech-savvy audience will be eagerly anticipating the exciting line-up of cutting-edge consumer gadgets and product releases on display,"


said Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organiser of the show.

The Middle East is one of the fastest growing consumer electronic markets, with the total ICT spend in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) expected to rise by 50% to $45bn by 2010, according to studies by IDC and IMF.

The consumer electronics industry features some of the most recognised brand names in the world like HP, Panasonic, Samsung, Sanyo and Sharp.

Many of these companies will be displaying their new products at the show, which includes the 'Gizmo Showcase' and the 'Tech Walk' fashion show, promising to captivate early adopters and trendsetters alike.

The Gizmo Showcase will focus on technological advances and product innovations, while shining the spotlight on up-and-coming brands that are creating a buzz within the industry.

Complementing the showcase is the Tech Walk fashion show, which will provide a rare glimpse of some of the most highly anticipated products not yet launched on the market.

Some of the latest technology on show will include designer mobile phones, MP3 players, HD cameras, and one of the biggest LCD screens in the world.

"Gadget Glam show, is one of the highlights of the Consumer Electronics sector at Gitex Technology Week and HP is proud to be sponsoring the event for a second year. HP will again launch its latest reliable, innovative products to the market at the show," said Anil Kumar, Consumer and Commercial Category Manager, Personal Systems Group, HP Middle East.

Innovation will also be on display in the world of electronic gaming, with the inaugural Gitex Digital Game World.

Gitex Technology Week will provide a platform to discuss the business-to-business potential of this innovative market a series of developer workshops at the event, with specific emphasis on supporting the development of original Arabic games and software.

Taking place simultaneously at the Gitex Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo regional teams will battle it out in a series of organised games and online tournaments, to win the opportunity to compete with the visiting world's best gamers in the 'Intel Extreme Masters' competition.
