Bahrain Air to acquire Airbus A320 aircraft

Bahrain Air signed yesterday a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Airbus to acquire up to 6 Airbus A320 aircraft increasing the company's fleet size to 11.

With the addition of these aircraft Bahrain Air will be able to consolidate its position and extend its network to several new destinations.

Bahrain Air currently operates to 10 destinations throughout the Middle East, North Africa, the Levant, & India.

"The signing of this LOI marks yet another milestone for Bahrain Air," said Mr. AlHamer, Bahrain Air Managing Director.

"For our loyal passengers, in order to offer better service with more frequent and convenient connections, the enhancement of the fleet is the step in the right direction," he added.

Bahrain Air was incorporated on 2 July 2007 as a Bahraini Shareholding Company "Closed" B.S.C (C) with a capital of ten million Bahrain Dinars ($26.5m). It is the first Premium service carrier with affordable fares, is a private national carrier located in Bahrain, operating within GCC countries and to the Middle East, North Africa, the Levant, Iran & India.
The airline operates point to point services with a minimum connecting transit time in Bahrain International Airport. It offers affordable fares to all its network destinations with two class service, Premium and Economy.
Bahrain Air started operations out of Bahrain International Airport on 3 February 2008. Serving 10 destinations in the Gulf, Middle East, Levant, and Indian sub-continent, currently it operates twice daily services at convenient timings to Dubai and Doha, five weekly flights to Alexandria in Egypt, four weekly flights to Beirut, three each to Damascus, Amman and two to Aleppo in addition to three to Mashad in Iran.

On the 23rd July Bahrain Air commenced its operation to Jeddah with 3 flights weekly and will be increased on the 1st September 2008 to 4 weekly flights.

New destinations planned for launch effective October 2008 are daily flights to Kuwait and two weekly flights to Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

Bahrain Air operates a fleet of 2 modern Airbus 320, with 12 seat capacity in Premium Class furbished with comfortable leather seats and ample legroom.
