Vice Chancellor, Muhammad A. Faour said:
"As DU begins its fifth year of operations, we pursue with enthusiasm and determination the construction of our new campus in the scenic city of Salalah, with modern facilities, laboratories, and state-of-the art equipment. At Dhofar University, we are committed to developing a quality learning environment to which all academically qualified students from Oman and other countries are welcome."
DU has started building its new campus on a 450,000 square meter plot of land in a scenic part of A`saada Area in Salalah. The first part of development includes three phases to construct : an administration building, three buildings for the three colleges and the Foundation Program, a common classroom building, a main library building, a student activity center a mosque, females student dormitories, and housing for the senior administration.
The facilities shall meet international design standards and those of the Ministry of Higher Education, while taking into consideration the local needs and cultural context. Students, faculty and staff shall have access to the city sports complex located next to the new campus, according to Mr. Faour.
DU offers academic programs, including, two-year diplomas, four-year bachelor degrees and a master's degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Teaching English Language for the first time besides an new major in Chemical Engineering to added to the College of Engineering Course that follow the American model of higher education and use English as the medium of instruction.
The university also offers Foundation Program designed to equip students who are not sufficiently prepared to join the two-year diploma or the four-year bachelor program offered at the University. This program equips students with the requisite knowledge and skills in English language, Mathematics, Information Technology, and Study Skills.
The Continuing Education Center (CEC) offers quality programs to meet the ongoing professional and personal needs of Dhofar's adult community at large.
