Dina Al Nakhi, Events Manager at Al Qasba Development Authority said:
"Adapting the "Silk Road" theme this time round, the Al Qasba walkways will be dotted with the cultural and traditional aspects of the bygone era that spread across from China to Europe extending over 8,000km in 114BC. Al Qasba will be transformed into a site of cultural diversity representing the route where many countries exchanged goods such as silk and spices. Pavilions of a few Silk Road representative countries will be on display across the Al Qasba walkways including China, India, Iran, and the Levant Region, with the UAE hosting a heritage area in the Al Qasba tent."
Each country pavilion will include physical and mentally stimulating games and many performance shows. The pavilions will also provide information about the specific countries and conduct various workshops. Visitors can also patronize the food and merchandise kiosks at each country pavilion.
Together with the Silk Road theme, Ramadaniat Al Qasba 2008 will once again bring alive the popular Al Qasba Tent. The Ramadan nights' ambience will be recreated with the help of traditional lighting, delectable delicacies and a great family ambience. To add to the fun, exciting competitions and incredible prizes will be in store for the whole family with local TV and radio stations present to catch the action.
The "Heritage Village" inside the Al Qasba Tent bringing the traditional Emirati way of life will be another event designed to capture vistors' senses and imaginations. Providing a variety of unique and affordable local goods and delicacies, this peek into the past event will also take visitors through the lives of the Bedouins at sea and mountains as well as the more modern times of the UAE people.
Keeping in tune with the spirituality of the month, Ramadaniat Al Qasba 2008 will once again host the Al Eman Oasis. A highlight of this destination that will be open to
visitors of all faiths will be a series of bilingual talks by prominent local and international Muslim scholars. The tent will also feature activities for children, exciting competitions for Muslims and non-Muslims and a comprehensive Islamic library to browse through or buy.
Ramadaniat Al Qasba will also create a special space for children in "The Fun Zone". With a play ground and a variety of games and tournaments tailored for young and older children on safe and friendly grounds, parents can catch up with the spirit of Ramadan in peace.
