An eclectic mix of opinion makers, top management, experts, critics, fashionistas and delegates from across 10 countries represented the fashion, media and retail industries at the show. The show was designed to impress the 700 VIPs attending the show. 30 models sashayed on the ramp in 80 ensembles from Splash's designs for the AW08 collection, including select limited edition pieces which will be retailed out of its stores.
The season's key trends such as the winter-bright colours - yellow, purple & electric blue against subtle hues of grey & black - were seen on the collection. The Japanese-design inspired collection also had its share of checks. The show opened with high drama, as the choreography began through a piece of dramatic music, which flowed into a more balanced harmony. As the first segment progressed it showed some dark, yet elegant outfits which was achieved by an interesting mix of fabrics such as brocades, silk, taffeta and satin. The models were resplendent in the 'glam-goth' look, complete with trench coats, long dresses, tuxedos and jackets. The tempo built then into an up-beat and trendy second sequence.
The outfits showcased here were a burst of colourful, bold and youthful 'tutus', 'raras' and stylish tops. This finally gave way to a subtle-yet-sensuous, feminine sequence with models walking the ramp in evening gowns made of lace, silk, chiffon and sequins. The music flowed into a perfect tempo, making it a befitting finale.
Raza Beig, CEO, Splash, closed the show by walking the ramp for the show finale along with Nisha Jagtiani, Business Manager, Splash. Beig commented,
"'Splash's Fashion Shows & After-parties have earned a reputation as one of the must-attend events in the region's fashion and social calendar. With this collection we are sure that the show will become an accurate forecast of the season's high-street fashion, what's trendy and how it'll reflect in the global market. We will continue to evolve while being spot-on trends and continue to offer 'value' to the customer. This has been our biggest show yet, and it backs the bold statement we're making - Eye on Design. Splash is very proud of its culture of design, and intends to live by it."
Raza & the Splash team entertained guests attending the show at a state-of-the-art VIP Media Lounge, which was designed to appease the senses. Select pieces from the collection were showcased for the media to have a closer look at the garments and feel the fabrics. This lounge then hosted the after-party, where guests mingled over drinks and danced to music played by DJ Venus, as they celebrated Splash's inspiring collection and its foray into a new level of the fashion arena.
