The prices of all IKEA products as mentioned in the Catalogue will be valid for a full year from September the 1st, 2008 till August 31st, 2009.

"This year's theme is 'Plan your home around the way you live'", said IKEA Kuwait General Manager Adel Al Shamali at an exclusive media preview held at the IKEA Kuwait store on August 30th to launch the new Catalogue 2009.

"The way you live reflects who you are. Our 2009 Catalogue presents over 3500 IKEA products and over 4000 images to inspire you to create a living space that mirrors your tastes, preferences and distinct personality."

IKEA designers continuously work to ensure that each annual Catalogue features products that are functional, attractive, modern and yet easy on your pocket, he adds.

"There's no excuse for not defining your living space as a statement of who you are and what you cherish, with the IKEA Catalogue 2009!"

A fresh new look

The new 2009 Catalogue comes in an easy-to-carry format which is smaller in size than previous catalogues; yet, it's packed with more ideas to trigger your creative thinking across 374 colorful pages - that's 92 pages more than last year's catalogue. Organized in categories of living spaces to help you find just what you are looking for, the Catalogue also features product information replete with price, finishing, constituent materials, colour range and maintenance advice - enabling you to make an informed purchasing decision.

Enabling you to make the most

"Enabling customers to make the most from their resources has always been the cornerstone of IKEA's unique business philosophy the world over", says Adel Al Shamali while presenting a corporate overview at the media preview. "This is why we have adopted a cost-effective product development, production and distribution process, which allows us to always assure customers a wide range of good design and quality, at remarkably low prices."

It is this sustainable approach towards business that has enabled IKEA stores to guarantee that products are always available at Catalogue prices all year round. "If there's any change at all in product pricing, it will only be further lowering of prices," explains Adel Al Shamali.

Added value is a benefit that pervades throughout the 2009 Catalogue. While the 2009 IKEA kitchens come with a five-year guarantee, all furniture has been designed to enable one to make the best possible use of available space.

The Catalogue also illustrates a host of services offered by IKEA, from design consultancy by IKEA's experts, to home delivery and furniture assembly.

Further, IKEA's product range also integrates ergonomics and child safety.

For instance, the Patrull range comprises products with in-built safety elements such as anti-slip rugs and tubs, rounded drawer and furniture edges and oven burner guards.

And all IKEA pillows are ergonomically designed to support the natural structure of the head and the neck.

Something for everyone

The 2009 Catalogue has something for everyone, every season and every living situation. "Whether you are a newly-wed couple or a family with children, there's something in the IKEA Catalogue 2009 to meet everyone's preference, taste and style", says IKEA Kuwait Store Manager Emile Shaar.

"After all, it is with great detail that we often change our fashion, our mobile phones and even our cars! Why should it be any different when it comes to our homes?" he says in jest. "With IKEA Catalogue 2009's wide range and upper limit price guarantee, you can plan your shopping well in advance for every season as per your budget."

Setting the design trend

IKEA's products continue to revolutionize interior design year after year, by setting trends that synergize aesthetics, utility and convenience.

"This year, the focus is on bright, bold colours such as green, orange and yellow in various hues that are sure to enliven any living space. The combination of pink and black is also a must-see in the 2009 Catalogue." explains Emile Shaar.

All IKEA products incorporate the quintessential elements of Swedish lifestyle - which holds an inherent reverence for nature and optimization of raw materials and natural resources, he adds.

IKEA's designers - Tomas Sandell, Chris Martin, Maria Vinka, Anne Nilsson, Petra Borner, Linda Svensson, Anna Salander, Ehlen Johansson, Monika Mulder and Susan Pryke - ingeniously develop new products every year, each of which reflect the Scandinavian theory that daylight and space are invaluable gifts of nature.

It is the freshness of the open air that is reflected in the colours and materials used - blonde woods, natural textiles and untreated surfaces - and the ambience they create by making the best possible use of available space.
