- PRESS RELEASE
The Planetarium at Children's City is undergoing a major makeover that will see the installation of a state-of-the-art three-dimensional full dome theatre.
Makiya Al Hajri, Head of the Children's City, which is an exclusive Dhs77m edutainment facility for children, said works have already begun for installing this system and would be over by the end of next month.
"The new system, which is tailored to suit the Planetarium's needs, is designed to produce a graphically stunning display with high levels of brightness and resolution for all shows to be held at the Planetarium from now on. We have sought the help of the London-based Global Immersion to provide us with the right solution," said Al Hajri.
She noted that the new system, with its six-channel projection design covering the whole screen area of 288 square meters at the planetarium, would help reinforce the message of educational materials that are displayed in the planetarium in the minds of children and students.
"Visiting children would be able to explore the universe and the galaxy in a very exciting way thanks to the new display technology. From now onwards, these shows will be accompanied by live educational workshops that suit the tastes of children in different age groups who are visiting the planetarium," Al Hajri added.
Eng. Wissam Al Mufti, who supervises the expansion project at Planetarium, said superior quality and high performance levels were the main criteria in choosing this advanced display technology.
"Full dome theater technology is the new trend among the planetarium and astronomy community worldwide. At Children's City, we also would like to offer the young generation the best in edutainment facilities," he said.
