UAE group buys Manchester City
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, September 02 - 2008 at 07:46
Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment has bought the English football club Manchester City for an undisclosed amount, reported Gulf News. Former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra had been looking to sell City for several weeks after his assets were frozen as a result of corruption and fraud charges in Thailand. The purchase gives ADUG all management rights, and Thaksin will be honourary president of the club without administrative responsibilities.
