This year, visitors to the dedicated website are invited to submit not just their written pledges, but can also upload picture and video messages.
Each pledge is an easy way of conveying festive messages to individuals, families, the local community, or even far away friends anywhere around the globe.
The money raised will go to Bait al Khair, a charity formed to benefit a range of disadvantaged people in the UAE; and an international charity that works to provide safe drinking water to communities around the globe.
The aim of the campaign is to foster a spirit of generosity in Ramadan, and also raise awareness of the need for water conservation by engaging the online community in this interactive campaign.
Manal Shaheen, Director of Sales, Marketing and Customer Services, said:
"Following last year's success we have chosen to re-launch our Ramadan charity initiative and website. By posting a pledge online we are encouraging people to commit to making a positive change in their lives, however large or small. These personal gestures of goodwill have the added benefit of providing a donation to deserving charities - without the individual having to pay a dirham. Nakheel has a commitment to charities both locally and internationally and it is our intention with this campaign to help provide safe drinking water to millions of people around the world. Our vision is to inspire humanity and to make a difference to people's lives and the more pledges that people make on the website the more we can donate. Bait al Khair is a charity close to the heart of those who work at Nakheel and we are delighted that we can once again support their excellent work through this initiative."
Last year Nakheel's online Ramadan campaign drew thousands of visitors and solicited over 39,000 wishes from people on five continents.
This year Nakheel is expanding the scope of the campaign by integrating an application on the social networking site Facebook so that users can encourage friends to make pledges, broadening the reach of the initiative.
