Mobily launches WiMax at home in four cities
- Saudi Arabia: Tuesday, September 02 - 2008 at 15:43
- PRESS RELEASE
As of September 1, which fell on the same day as the first of Ramadan, Mobily is offering free WiMAX for domestic subscribers at no charge for the installation and without the hassle of underground wiring. speeds of up to two megabits per second should wipe out any worries about speed.
Mobily said in a press release that the first phase of the new service will see it providing coverage in four major cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Khobar. WiMAX coverage will eventually cover the entire Kingdom.
Mobily's broadband @ home is the Kingdom's first and only prepaid WiMAX service for domestic subscribers. By using WiMAX technology, broadband @ home eliminates the need for problematic and annoying underground wiring, which caters for only limited numbers of users to begin with. With broadband @ home, high-speed internet couldn't be more accessible: Just the machine into the mains lead and you're on your way to the information superhighway.
And should they leave home for any length of time, subscribers need not worry: There's no need to call up the company or beg a technician to set things up all over again. You can simply take your service with you anywhere you go, because the service runs on the much-loved principle of plug and play.
It gets better. On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, new subscribers will not have to pay any fees - and they get the modem for free. A mere phone call to 0560101100, or if you're so inclined, a visit to any of Mobily's branches, are enough to get things going.
Mobily owns two thirds (66%) of the Kingdom's fiberobtic network, thus enabling it to broaden its data transfer, Internet and broadband services at will, as well as to offer new WiMAX-based services that help its clients exchange information wirelessly.
