Termed as the 'motivated volunteer empowerment workshop', the two-phased 'Manal Bint Mohammed Voluntary Program, will be implemented in partnership with Family International Community Services (FICS), one of the most prominent educational institutions globally in the field of voluntary work.
Her Highness Sheikha Manal said the program will encourage citizens to integrate more effectively into the society and highlight some of the key social issues.
She said:
"The program will cooperate with Family International Community Services (FICS), which has already launched voluntary programs in a number of Arab countries, such as Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon. This initiative highlights the distinctive educational level and on-field skills that women will acquire during voluntary work."
"As devout Muslims, we are encouraged to participate in humanitarian activities that best reflect the sublime Islamic values and contribute to establish fraternity and solidarity among all members of the society, particularly during the Holy Month of Ramadan."
The first phase of the program featuring a number of specialized workshops, such as 'How to Make a Difference', 'Communication and Teamwork' and 'Setting Goals', will also include field visits. Women will also learn the importance of voluntary work in addition to receiving training to offer such work.
During the second phase, volunteers will implement a number of program across the country, applying the lessons and skill sets they acquired from the training workshops. The programs will qualify them and help them obtain accredited certificates from the Family International Community Services.
Her Highness Sheikha Manal added: "The scope of giving should never be restricted to only the material aspect. On the other hand, people should contribute their time, effort and knowledge that can multiply several times the benefits the society receives."
Voluntary work reflects the principles of social solidarity among the UAE nationals while developing a sense of responsibility towards one's home country and the society. It also highlights the need for a charitable worker to combine voluntary efforts with his/her skills and experience, for optimizing contribution through such voluntary work.
