Dubai Customs recovers $14m

Dubai Customs has announced that it has registered a total of Dhs52m ($14m) from post audits in the first half of 2008, compared to Dh39.5 million during the same period in 2007. Improved capacity and capability of the audit department resulted in the successful handling of 32,000 fraud and smuggling cases during the first six months of this year, an increase of 6,000 cases during the same period in 2007. The results are expected to reach record levels by year-end.
