Bahrain City Centre set to add significantly to the Kingdom's economy

The Group CEO of Majid Al Futtaim says that Bahrain's biggest and brightest new mall, Bahrain City Centre, will contribute significantly to Bahrain's strengthening economy.

Anders Moberg said that the mall, due to open in September, is expected to put Bahrain's retail offering on par with other international cities like Dubai, London and Paris and help the Kingdom continue to attract a growing number of visitors.

On Tuesday Anders Moberg said:

"After more than 2 years in the making, this month's completion of the construction stage of the iconic 1.5 million square foot Bahrain City Centre signals Bahrain's arrival as a modern and key retail destination. When all 350 stores and both hotels are fully operational in 2009, it will employ more than 4,000 people, of which more than 50% will be local Bahraini nationals."

We proudly support the Bahrain government's plan to boost its tourism sector and Bahrain City Centre is the Kingdom's boldest attempt yet to claim a larger share of the around $30bn spent annually in malls in the GCC.

Next year when the two Kempinski hotels and amazing Water Park open, Bahrain City Centre will become one of the region's premiere shopping, leisure and entertainment resorts." Anders added.

Ahmed Al Hammadi, Majid Al Futtaim's Bahrain Country Manager, also explained that "Our main goal is to grow demand for retail in Bahrain and significantly contribute to building the Kingdom's reputation as a foremost destination for tourists and business alike."
