The Festival of the Mind is hosted by INTELNACOM in Bahrain and will be held in Bahrain from 23-26th October, 2008 at the Gulf International Convention Centre, Gulf Hotel, in Bahrain.
To make the event even more exciting, two new elements have been added this year with the introduction, for the first time, of an Inter-Schools' Challenge and an Inter-University Challenge in 4 disciplines Chess, Scrabble, Dhama and Sudoku.
In addition there will be workshops in accelerated learning, specific mind development techniques as well as learning how to develop your memory.
"The Festival of the Mind is an opportunity for everyone to learn and our aim is to highlight edu-training, the combination of fun learning events and simple methods for developing the mind that, when used effectively can be a phenomenal tool for humanity."
said, Mr Fuad Mubarak, Deputy CEO of INTELNACOM.
At the core of the festival, is the thrilling annual World Memory Championships, which represents one of the toughest mental tests of all time for anyone who takes part.
Here you will see competitors who are able to memorize 4,000 digit numbers and recall with absolute accuracy at least ten pack of cards in one hour.
The competitors to the World Memory Championship have some of the world's most developed minds and utilize techniques which it is believed can be learned by anyone.
However, like any sport, you must have the enthusiasm to practice consistently in order to compete at this international level.
Last year's champion, Dr Gunther Karsten of Erfurt, Germany won the 16th World Memory Championship in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
It is hoped that he will be there to defend his title in October alongside competitors from all over the world who are expected to be present.
