Saraya Aqaba launches "We Share" initiative during Ramadan

As part of its commitment towards the local community in Aqaba, and in a statement of unity, interaction and active involvement, Saraya Aqaba launched "We Share" initiative on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, which extends to cover the last quarter of 2008.

"We Share" initiative focuses on participation in the aim of responding to the needs of the local community in Aqaba during the Holy Month of Ramadan till end of year.

In addition to its socio-economic dimension, the initiative extends to support the pillars of education and the environment. This comes as a manifestation of the effective participation of the private sector in Aqaba, to promote corporate community involvement.

Stressing on the importance of engagement with the local community Mr. "Shadi Ramzi" Majali, General Manager of Saraya Aqaba, elaborated that Saraya Aqaba's involvement come as part of Saraya's corporate social responsibility strategy. The strategy aims at improving the living standards of the local communities and the various initiatives are tailored to the needs of the communities in which it operates.

Saraya Aqaba and through "We Share" initiative emphasizes on the notion that no responsibility rests fulfilled unless shared, as by participation and unified efforts of individuals, institutions, organizations and entities, optimal benefits can be achieved through variety of programs and activities, such as supporting the needs of the underprivileged during Ramadan and providing them with winter necessities.

Furthermore, and through "We Share", Saraya Aqaba will be actively involved in initiatives that target the society at large, where on the educational front, Saraya Aqaba provided scholarships to ten outstanding students from Aqaba, to study in the Jordanian universities and for the second consecutive year in order to contribute to the improvement of the educational level of the students in Aqaba. Additionally, Saraya Aqaba launched the third phase of the schools adoption program through the Abdullah Bin Qais Al Harithi School for Boys, where renovation work was conducted, and educational programs targeting the students, teachers and parents, will be implemented.

Falling under the concept of "We Share" initiative, a number of environmental initiatives are in the pipeline. These initiatives will serve society members at large, ensuring awareness on biodiversity conservation.

The Saraya Aqaba destination, built over an area of 643,000 square meters, around a man made lagoon adding 1.5km to the beach front of the Gulf of Aqaba, includes various types of fully furnished residential units such as grand villas, villas, town houses and apartments. Units are delivered to new home owners who aspire to own a home in the Jordanian city of Aqaba, providing them with a unique and true experience of sheer luxury.

The destination also includes five 5-star hotels and two boutique hotels, operated by the renowned hotel operators; Jumeirah, Starwood & Nikki Beach, Souk Saraya which includes retail shops, restaurants and recreational activities, in addition to "Wild Wadi" water park, amphitheatre, kids club, sports park, beach club, offices and conference center as well as other facilities. The infrastructure and construction works in Saraya Aqaba have reached an advanced stage of development on ground.
