Leila Rajkumar, Public Relations Manager of The Coca-Cola Bottling Company, said:
"The spirit of charity and caring is truly palpable this Holy Month of Ramadan. In each of these individuals, there is a wish to make a difference, which is so heart-warming. We at the Coca-Cola Company are delighted to sponsor such humane projects."
Rajkumar said, "As a tenacious, committed lot, the Thirst Quenchers aim to come up with various other initiatives in the future that benefit our communities, and we hope to continue supporting them."
The Iftar initiative from Thirst Quenchers follows the success of its recently concluded seven-week Arwa Water and Fanta Citrus charity drive that saw a number of young and enthusiastic volunteers offering chilled water and beverages to labourers toiling under the summer sun.
Rajkumar added, "These volunteers do not belong to any club, association, or organization and wish to remain non-partisan. They are just a group of individuals comprising both Bahrainis and expatriates who are keen to do their bit in their country of residence and in the lives of the needy people, as well as across the community at large."
The Coca Cola Company has already pledged its support for the 2009 edition of the Thirst Quenchers' water and beverage distribution drive among construction workers, which not only promises to be larger in reach and scope but has also received the confirmed participation of a majority of volunteers from this year's campaign.
