Deliveries of the popular mid-range C-Class were up over 30% from 375 to 490 while the evergreen E-Class continued to maintain its leading status in its segement with deliveries up over 55% from 253 to 393. In the luxury sedan segment, the S-Class continues to be the region's favourite vehicle in its segment with deliveries up over 4% to 551.
Meanwhile, the luxury M-Class SUV continued to gain ground in August with deliveries up over 37% compared to the same month in 2007 proving that it is the best value for money in its class.
Sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Levant continued to climb while the UAE maintains its status as the largest market in the region with 112 more vehicles delivered in August compared to the same period last year. Saudi Arabia continues to grow with deliveries up over 19% in August.
"We have just introduced a Premium version of the E-Class and with the new compact GLK SUV due in showrooms in the next three months, our ambitions target for the year is well within reach,"
said Frank Bernthaler, Director, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars, Middle East & Levant.
Worldwide, the Mercedes-Benz Cars division has increased sales by five percent since the beginning of the year. A total of 857,600 Mercedes-Benz, AMG, smart, and Maybach brand vehicles were delivered to customers in the first eight months of the year (January-August 2007: 817,600 units).
