Dubai Autism Centre receives Dhs1m donation from Apparel Group

Apparel Group, one of the leading fashion retailers in the Gulf region, with over 450 stores and 50 brands under its umbrella, has donated Dhs1m to Dubai Autism Centre.

Mr. Nilesh Ved, Chairman, Apparel Group, handed a cheque for Dhs1m to H.E. Dr. Omar Bin Suleiman, Vice Chairman, Dubai Autism Centre and the Governor of DIFC at his office. Also present on the occasion was Mr. Mohammad Ameen Al Emadi, Director General, Dubai Autism Centre.

Welcoming the donation, H.E Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Vice Chairman of Dubai Autism Centre & Governor of DIFC said:
"We appreciate the Apparel Group's contribution, which will support the Dubai Autism Centre's programs aimed at improving the lives of people with autism. Apart from the monetary contribution, the group's support in spreading awareness about the disorder will contribute to a greater sense of understanding and compassion about autism. The Dubai Autism Centre is working actively to increase the support and resources it offers people and families affected by autism. Some of our initiatives are aimed at providing state-of-the-art facilities for the detection and treatment of autism, while others help children integrate better into mainstream systems of education."


On the occasion, Mr. Nilesh Ved, Chairman, Apparel Group said, "As a corporate organization, the Apparel Group has always believed in giving back to the society and the environment we live. We are proud to make this donation to support the Dubai Autism Centre's work in helping individuals with autism and their families. We will also be working to spread awareness about Autism through all the group's outlets across the UAE during the Holy Month of Ramdan. It gives us immense satisfaction that we will be contributing to this noble cause in our own small way."

Mr. Al Emadi, Director General, Dubai Autism Centre, expressed his appreciation for the donation saying, "We are thankful to the Apparel Group for the generous donation that they have made to the Dubai Autism Centre. The added support they have extended in helping raise awareness about autism is extremely commendable. Every year there is an increase in the percentage of those affected by autism. Hence it becomes very important for us to expand our current operations and upgrade the services that we are providing. The Apparel Group's support will help us in this effort."

The Apparel Group has been at the forefront of social causes, be it blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, paper recycling, breast cancer awareness or helping children with special needs. The Group is actively involved with the Children's Hope Foundation, an organization which provides medical, learning and leisure equipment for children with severe illness and disabilities. The group has undertaken these activities as part of its extensive social responsibility programme.
