Dr. Miguel Abboud, CCCL medical director, following the official inauguration ceremony which took place at noon on September 10 at the cancer center, said:
"We are so grateful for the generosity of the Rotary Club-Koura. The rooms are furnished with the latest equipment which makes them very relaxing for patients and their families. This helps us provide them with the best care possible."

Attending the inauguration were a number of AUB medical staff and members of Rotary Club- Koura, including Acting President, Dr. Nadim Cortas, who is also Vice President for Medical Affairs, and the director of the Medical Center, Munthir Kuzayli.

Guests were given a tour of the new facilities following the official inauguration.

Established in 2002, the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) is a unique regional center for the comprehensive treatment of pediatric cancer. An affiliate of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee (St. Jude), the center works in close association with The American University of Beirut, Medical Center (AUBMC). Its goal has always been to make sure that every child can receive treatment regardless of their financial abilities.

The CCCL covers all costs of care beyond those reimbursable by third party payments and total costs when the latter are not available. The CCCL depends on donations, and its ability to fulfill its mission is constrained by the availability of funds at its disposal.
