VMware asks regional businesses when and how they will virtualize at Gitex 2008

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, September 14 - 2008 at 13:33
  • PRESS RELEASE

VMware will use Gitex 2008 as a platform to ask decision-makers in the Middle East about how and when their organizations will virtualize IT infrastructures.

As the global leader in Virtualisation VMware is perfectly positioned to assist Middle Eastern businesses with this crucial IT transition.

Following a recent report estimating that almost half of surveyed enterprises' servers are expected to be virtualized by 2009, VMware will be highlighting how regional businesses can optimize their existing IT investments with virtualization to reduce the cost and complexity of IT. VMware technology is virtualising the enterprise from the data center to the desktop.

"In terms of enterprise IT virtualization, reports indicating a tremendous growth year show that the question is no longer if companies in the Middle East should virtualize, but when and how they should pursue virtualization to reap the benefits of simplified IT management, business continuity and disaster recovery while planning for future growth,"

said Ghassan Darri, Regional Manager Middle East and Africa at VMware.

During the five-day exhibition, VMware will provide the region's leading CIOs and IT directors with answers to these questions by demonstrating how to extend the benefits of virtualization through simplifying the process of server consolidation and giving customers the ability to pool and dynamically allocate applications and power resources. In the last five years, a growing number of the Middle East's banks, telecoms operators, and public sector organizations have virtualized their technology environments to maximize IT investment and reduce operating costs.

A new trend is the increasing interest in Green IT and VMware is taking a leading position. The virtualization of servers drastically reduces overall energy consumption and cooling costs, producing up to 80% reduction of annual electricity bills for some customers.

VMware will meet its customers and partners in Hall No. 4 at Gitex.
