The inauguration of the new facility marks the company's ambitious strategy to expand its operations throughout Bahrain.
"Our business has grown during the last years. As a result, we have outgrown our current facility's capabilities. Our new warehouse of 5680 sqm with three storage levels will permit our continued growth for the next several years as well as allow us to improve our service level,"
says Mr. Mathew Simon, Deputy General Manager of Home Centre.
Fully equipped to accommodate around 15,000 different products, the new facility includes a multi-tier racking system with three storage levels consisting of an open space on the ground and the first floors.
"Home Centre initial requirement was to be able to store different sizes and awkward shaped items under one roof, keeping a high level of organization and service, explains Mr. Masum Halari, Deputy Account Manager (SPAN). Our solution was specifically designed for the storage of furniture and allowed bulky items to be neatly stored and easily accessible, continues Mr. Halari.
The ground floor and the first level of the facility were designated for the storage of large items while the second level of the installation was reserved for smaller items.
The "ground plus two" system has also an capability to extend to one more tier, keeping pace with future business growth.
Home Centre's additional concern, according to Mr. Halari was safety.
For this reason, only steel material was agreed to be used. 8800sqm of mesh grating were installed avoiding any hazard and entitling easy movement of pallet trucks.
Apart from the storage system, SPAN also supplied material handling equipment encompassing electric stand-on stackers and pallet trucks all made by German manufacturer Jungheinrich and specially designed for fast and comfortable operations.
Commenting on the project, Mr. Simon says: "we are very pleased with the quality of service SPAN Group has provided us. The company has assisted us from planning phases to the execution of our warehouse facility. We sincerely appreciate its responsiveness and competence on completion of the project. We also take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who was involved in this project and we look forward to future support."
