AC has supplied over 100 kilometres of GRP pre-insulated pipe systems for a number of district cooling projects in the UAE.

AC's General Manager, Dr. Raed Al Zubi, explains the challenges involved in such a prestigious project saying:
"Firstly, as the nominated sub-contractor for the district cooling works we are extremely pleased by this latest contract win. We strongly value our working relationship with Nakheel on its prestigious projects and this gives us another opportunity to demonstrate our value offering. We are also looking forward to working with the main contractor on this project, Al Rajhi Construction. In terms of challenges, AC needs to focus from the start on moving forward with the execution of this project in line with projects timelines and deliverables. It is critical to understand the client's needs and expectations and to work swiftly in order to align with the project's overall construction timeline for the prompt delivery of our work. So it is important for us to plan well and communicate effectively with the main contractor to ensure that we execute well."

AC will provide over 20 kilometres of GRP pipes for this particular project with the pipes ranging in diameter from 50 to 800 millimetres. The contract will also see AC supply and install the valves required for the district cooling services. All the GRP products will be manufactured at AC's manufacturing facility in Al Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah.

AC has helped pioneer the usage of GRP pipe systems in the application of district cooling in the region and it is fast becoming the material of choice for projects across the UAE and GCC. The main rationale behind this is the low life cycle costs involved with GRP systems and the reliability associated with the products. GRP systems are corrosion resistant and therefore lead to negligible maintenance costs.

Established in Al Hamriyah Free zone in 2000, Advanced Composites has already supplied leading contractors in the UAE such as Darwish, NCTC, Black & Veach and SIXCO with products for drainage and sewerage plants.
