Commenting on the recent development, Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, said:
"Our Group was formed with the intention of supporting Government led initiatives such as Dubai Shopping Festival and raise Dubai's profile as the regional hub of gold and jewellery trade. Over the years we have worked very closely with the government so being granted this kind patronage is a natural step."

Ms. Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Shopping Festival, who is also a board of director of the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group said: "We welcome this development which will foster better understanding and co-operation between the trade and the government. DGJG's promotions have contributed to the success of DSF and DSS in keeping Dubai's jewellery retail sector busy and vibrant, in addition to enhancing Dubai's reputation as the 'City of Gold' among tourists and visitors."

"Sheikh Ahmed has always actively supported DGJG and has been a Guest of Honour at our annual international 'Dubai City of Gold' Conference which has completed six editions this year. We are pleased and thankful that he is now our patron." commented Tawfique Abdullah, Chairman, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group.

Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group was formed in 1996 with the support of the Dubai Department of Economic Development. Members of the Group include all sectors of the trade comprising wholesale, retail, bullion and manufacturing.
