Metito has installed the unified communications solution at its new corporate headquarters at TechnoPark in Dubai, UAE.

Metito employees now have the time-saving advantages of real-time collaboration via simple one-click access to wireless telephony, emails, instant messaging and video conferencing.

The new infrastructure integrates Nortel communications solutions with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, allowing staff to see if colleagues are available online, no longer wasting time leaving messages and waiting for responses.

The new capabilities also give employees better access to presence communication tools for enhanced customer service.

Metito employees can now access and share information anywhere inside the headquarters complex whether they are using PDAs, smartphones, or laptop PCs.

The move to the new corporate headquarters at TechnoPark in Dubai was an ideal opportunity for Metito to upgrade its minimal IT infrastructure.

"Working with Nortel, we have created an optimized unified communications network that's simple to manage, and capable of supporting new services as we need them. The initial network is already serving 60 employees and is capable of supporting more than 400 people as our communications needs evolve," said Naseem Ul Haq Zaki, (Zaki), chief information officer, Metito Group IT.

"Because we are located in one of the leading green buildings in the Middle East, we were also looking for environmentally friendly and energy efficient products to deploy like Nortel Ethernet Switches."

"We also decided to deploy Nortel because of its Innovative Communications Alliance with Microsoft, which allows more simple integration of unified communications with our existing business processes", said Zaki.

"We found that the seamless integration of Nortel and Microsoft solutions to provide a unified communications solution is just not available from any other technology provider."

"Metito's global success depends on having great products and services, maximizing operational efficiency and driving employee productivity," said Hassan Hamadani, marketing manager, Nortel Middle East.

"Recent studies show that unified communications can boost corporate productivity by up to 18 percentą and lead to a return on investment of up to 250%.

These are the kinds of business benefits that ensure a customer like Metito can maximize return on investment through technology that also ensures the longest possible solution lifecycle."

Tareq Mandou, product marketing manager, Microsoft Gulf, said:

"Metito's Unified Communications platform consists of an integrated, modular set of solutions that brings together voice, audio and video conferencing, data and mobile applications to optimize operational efficiencies, significantly reduce operating costs and streamline business processes. Unified Communications solutions harness the power of software to deliver a complete end-to-end communications platform, across familiar applications and devices that people use every day."

Metito's always-on network includes Nortel's Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 and Ethernet Routing Switch 5520 providing a high-speed resilient, highly secure, scalable and intelligent data network.

Metito has also implemented Nortel Communication Server 1000 for IP telephony and Nortel IP handsets.

Nortel WLAN 2300 portfolio for wireless connectivity enable employees to work from any desk or on the move.

Nortel products and services make it possible for enterprises and service providers to be more energy efficient while reducing carbon footprint.

This includes Nortel's Power-over-Ethernet switches, recognized by Tolly Group as the industry's "greenest," and Nortel's services-powered Telepresence Solutions.

It also includes software tools like Nortel's Energy Efficiency and Telepresence Return on Investment (ROI) Calculators, which are already helping IT professionals to reduce network energy consumption by as much as 50%.
