"Silk Road" features high during Ramadaniat Al Qasba Programme

As part of Ramadaniat Al Qasba edutaiment programme hosted by Al Qasba, Sharjah's premier family entertainment and cultural destination, heritage lovers can enjoy a trip down the "Silk Road", another fervent activity now resonating high among the emirate's residents and visotrs.

The new initiative features a detailed description of the Silk Road, an ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean Sea extending some 6,440 km and linking China with the Roman Empire.

Besides a large number of entertainment and cultural programmes and activities that cater to all tastes, the new activity occasions a series of workshops on the caravans that used to use this ancient road in the past, showing that the Silk Road was not only an ancient international trade route, but also a splendid cultural bridge liking the cultures of China, India, Persia, Arabia, Greek and Rome.

The novel activity is showcased through a number of pavilions, primarily the Chinese stand, whose ancient, traditional designs reflect the scenery along the famous road, besides shedding extensive lights on ancient Chinese handicrats,and folkloric arts.

The Indian pavilion also occupies a promiment position illustrating the rich culture and traditions of India. The pavilion's visitors can get posted on the different Indian goods, traditional handicrats and various aspects of the original Indian folklore.

In the Persian pavilion, visitors get extensive knowledge of leading Persian scholars and artists, including the different muscial tools they used to wield. The famous aromatic smells of Persian spices tantalise the pavilion's visitors, motivating them to delve deeper into the corridors of the Persian culture and civlisation. Featuring high in the pavilion are also the world-famous Persian carpets.

The Levant pavilion woos a large number of visitors thanks to its distinctive decorations and designs. Typical Syrian hospitality features high in the pavilion where visitors can enjoy the unrivalled Levant cuisine, traditional dances, storytellers, traditional ice cream and much more.
The Roman pavilion likewise presents a series of activities that shed light on the ancient Roman cutlure and traditions.

During Ramadaniat Al Qasba, Al Qasbaa provides a festive atmosphere laden with exciting edutainment events enriched by the peaceful ambience of this amazing desination during the holy month of Ramadan. Activities start everyday from 9:30 p.m to midnight.

Besides the special Ramadan activities, visitors can also enjoy the daily happenings at Al Qasba including savouring the food from some of the best dining destinations in Sharjah, an Abra boat ride under the stars and a ride in the Etisalat - Eye of the Emirates, the tallest observatory wheel in the region.
