Statistics showed that there are more than 1500 prostate cancer cases in the UAE alone making it amongst the most commonly occurring cancer in the UAE male population.
Studies revealed that screening for prostate cancer can detect the disease when no symptoms are present and can help catch it at an early stage when treatment is thought to be more effective and potentially has fewer side effects, thereby giving men more treatment options and a greater chance of survival.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr. Michael Bitzer, CEO of Daman, said:
'Prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men. Early detection offers the best chance at long-term survival. Annual screening is recommended for all men over age 45.'
'The inclusion of such a benefit in our plans reflects our commitment in the contribution of enhancing the healthcare system and towards a healthier society. We also hope that by including the free screening in our plans, men will be encouraged to take the test, thus decreasing the spreading of such disease,' added Dr. Michael
To demonstrate its commitment, Daman will be conducting several activities across the UAE to create awareness on the importance of Prostate Screening.
