Helping Hands, a local charity based in UAE was established in October 2006, by Roger and Elle Trow with the aim of helping to raise the public's awareness of the lowest paid workers residing in this country. The charity aims to give a "Helping Hand" to laborers, people who find themselves with no jobs, no sponsor and no means to get home.

Janet Jweihan, DHL Express Country Manager, UAE commented:
"In the spirit of celebrating Ramadan, DHL created the Ramadan Charity Drive, conceptualised to increase the general public's awareness of the spirit of the holy month and the importance of lending a hand to those less fortunate in our society. DHL is proud to partner with Helping Hands as we firmly believe in the foundation's aims and objectives."

Elle and Roger Trow, founders of Helping Hands commented: "We are grateful to have DHL as our partner for the Ramadan Charity Drive. Having DHL vehicles for this year's campaign, we are confident that we will be able to more efficiently distribute donations made throughout the UAE, reaching out to those in need."

Emblematic of DHL's commitment to improving the society in which we live and work, the initiative was inaugurated with an internal staff collection whereby each employee chooses the amount he/she wants to donate in order to raise enough money to buy plates of food for a specific labor camp for one day.

"DHL allocated vehicles to transport 150 food plates from Al Qouz catering company for distribution at Al Qouz and Jebal Ali labor camps. In addition, DHL will dedicate vehicles to collect the Shoe Box where donations of new t-shirts, baseball caps, combs and other items can be made. The Shoe Box is located at Radisson SAS Media City where DHL vehicles will collect the donations made and distribute to labor camps across the UAE between September 27th and September 30th. With every donation made to the Shoe Box, DHL and Helping Hands will help those in need on this year's Eid."

Janet Jweihan added.
