Mena Telecom ready to roll out nationwide WiMAX service soon

A great sense of achievement filled the air today at Mena Telecom as employees and management celebrate hitting an internal infrastructure deployment date well ahead of schedule.

The mood was attributed to the first 802.16e nation wide end-to-end roll-out in the world, with full mobility capability and network diagnostics which have reached a final stage.

Mr. Abdul Razak Jawahery, Executive Manager Kuwait Finance House - Bahrain (KFH), representing KFH as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mena Telecom commented on the occasion:
"What we have achieved here today is the biggest step towards a full nation-wide roll-out of WiMAX services. Our equipment has been fully deployed and the network is showing remarkable stability and speed."

Mr. Jawahery continues, "The fact that we have completed the most crucial phase of our WiMAX roll-out in record time is a testament to the skill and professionalism of our work force. We will be offering our packages to all residents and businesses Kingdom-wide, very soon. Today we have 250 "Friendly User" customers on the network and we have been receiving very encouraging feedback in terms of stability and quality of both the internet and telephony services."

Mena Telecom's customer-care lines have been overflowing with consumer inquiries about WiMAX packages and availability. The calls started coming in soon after Mena Telecom announced the opening of its state-of-the-art WiMAX Operation Centers. These centers boast the latest WiMAX 802.16e network solutions available in the world today, allowing Mena Telecom to provide its customers with speed, signal clarity and user capacity that rival any WiMAX provider worldwide.

While the actual launch date and package details have not yet been released, Mr. Jawahery did confirm that it will happen by the last quarter of 2008 as recently promised, with average download speeds that dwarf what is currently available from other providers in Bahrain. Mr. Jawahery also added that an assortment of WiMAX devices will be ready for the launch, including WiMAX PBX systems and USB dongles for laptops. WiMAX enabled mobiles, PDA's and computers will be available world-wide by major brands in the near future.

Customers will soon be surfing the web at speeds never experienced in the region with competitive rates, while retaining mobility and freedom and experiencing the wireless world, thus enhancing their lives and simplifying day-to-day tasks. WiMAX 802.16e technology has effectively turned the Kingdom into a single massive hotspot that will change the way the internet is accessed forever.
